Introduction
Despite difficult economic times, Poles are eager to shop online, and the eCommerce market is growing steadily, according to OpinionWay’s annual report, “eCommerce Barometer 2023.” Although inflation has had a negative impact on household budgets and most of us are feeling the pinch of rising prices, nearly half of eShoppers admit that in 2022 they shopped online more often than in the previous year (40%). The study also reveals, among other things, which products are the most popular and what saving strategies consumers use.
2022 was a difficult year for Polish consumers, mainly due to several increases in the cost of living. Prices of housing, loans, energy, and food rose at a dizzying pace. On the other hand, all COVID restrictions were lifted. It would seem that all these factors would work to the disadvantage of the online channel. However, this was not the case—eCommerce is strengthening its position among Poles as a sales channel.– explains Nicolas Curtelin, Managing Director at OpinionWay Polska.
